Upper Truckee River Restoration Projects



Tahoe Keys - Cove East

 

In a major project, the California Tahoe Conservancy removed tons of fill dirt in order to restore the wetlands and create a hiking trail near the mouth of the Upper Truckee River.

 

 

Tahoe Keys -- Marsh Restoration

 

After removing fill dirt, the California Tahoe Conservancy restored the marsh at the  mouTh of the Upper Truckee River near the Tahoe Keys.

 

Mosier Meadows Project

 

Planning is underway to restore wetlands at the privately owned Mosier Ranch, located along the Upper Truckee River upstream from Highway 50.

Lake Tahoe Airport Reach Project

Planners from the City of South Lake Tahoe are evaluating alternatives for restoring the natural meanders of this section of the Upper Truckee River, located adjacent to the Lake Tahoe Airport.

Sunset Stables

After acquiring the property, the California Tahoe Conservancy is in the process of determining alternatives for restoring this reach of the Upper Truckee River just south of the Lake Tahoe Airport. The property was once the site of the Sunset Stable.

 

 

State Park Reach

California Department of Park and Recreation and other agencies are studying alternatives for restoring this reach of the Upper Truckee that contains the Lake Tahoe Golf Course (this project).

Cold Creek

Planners and workers for the Resource Conservation District restored meanders in the Cold Creek, located in the Upper Truckee River Watershed.

Trout Creek

The City of South Lake Tahoe and California Tahoe Conservancy completed this project, which included restoring the natural flows at Trout Creek, which is located in the watershed of the Upper Truckee River.

Angora Creek -- Golf Course Reach

California Department of Parks and Recreation completed this project that included restoring a stretch of Angora Creek, located within the the Upper Truckee River Watershed near the Lake Tahoe Golf Course.

 

 Angora Creek -- Sewer Capture Reach

California Department of Parks and Recreation restore this reach of Angora Creek, located along Sawmill Road.

 

 View Circle Reach

Planners for the City of South Lake Tahoe restored this reach of the Upper Truckee River at View Circle near Upper Truckee Boulevard.

 

 Cook House Meadow

Workers from the U.S. Forest Service restored this meadow at the upper elevations of the Upper Truckee River above Christmas Valley.

 

 

 

 

Project Partners
