Winter on the Upper Truckee
Winter came and went on the Upper Truckee River.
Some parts of the river froze. Other parts in the mind winter remained open, so ducks and Canada geese headed for the open water. Coyotes were able to make their annual feeding pilgrimages across the frozen water. Trout hunkered down under the river banks. Fooled by the late snows, robins pecked around looking for food.
Hikers and dog walkers had to clamp on their snowshoes or their cross-country skis for their outings.
